How To Know Christ God loves you and it is His desire for you to know Him personally. That may sound impossible. How can anyone really know God in a personal way?
Sin separates us from God. He is holy and He cannot have sin in His presence. The Word of God says, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God". (Romans 3.23) All means you and it means me. The punishment for sin is death but God goes on to give us good news too.
Because of God’s love for lost humanity, the scriptures record, that "God demonstrates His own love for us in this, while we were still sinners Christ died for us " (Romans 5:8) It goes on to say, “ " For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
In other words, when God sent His son, Jesus, he came to pay a price of sin that should have been ours to pay. He died on the cross in our place. "He saved us not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy". (Titus 3:5)
You cannot work your way into heaven. Most religions lay a heavy load on people and assume if you do enough good it will outweigh the bad when you stand before God. But the Bible teaches that our salvation is God’s idea and it is not based on us, it is based on Him and His love for lost humanity. We love Him because He first loved us. Christianity is the only belief that guarantees eternal life with our loving Heavenly Father.
Grace (unmerited favor) is an amazing way in which God reaches out to us. Each person is given a measure of faith, but it is only God's grace that saves us. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9
If God offers forgiveness and he says he will apply His grace to your life, then all that is left is to believe what He says. To simply accept the gift that Jesus is holding out for you right now. Are you ready to accept His gift to you?
Again the Word of God says, "If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus Is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Romans 10:9-10)
To be justified is “just as if you never sinned.” To be saved is to be saved from the wrath of God against sin and instead of eternal damnation (hell) you are rescued to have eternal life starting from the moment you believe and confess Christ as Lord. To "believe" is to believe that Christ is the Son of God who lived, died on the cross bearing your sin and was raised on the 3rd Day and is alive forevermore.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believe in him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16
We encourage you to pray right now and invite Christ into your life. Count the cost - this will change you life and you will never be the same. You will become a "new creation" and be spiritually born-again! But if you want to pray, you can use your own words or sincerely pray this prayer. "
Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner and I do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe Jesus Christ (your Son) died and rose from the grave to make to make me a new creation and to prepare me to dwell in your presence forever. I invite Christ to be Lord of my life and take over my life. Jesus, come into my life, take control of my life, forgive my sins and save me. I am now placing my trust in you alone for my salvation and I accept your free gift of eternal life. Thank you for saving me and I give you all the glory. I love and serve you eternally. Fill me now with your Holy Spirit to overflowing, in Jesus Name, Amen. If you prayed this prayer and truly mean it, you are a new person! You are now a child of our heavenly Father. The next step is for you to begin to grow in Christ through baptism, fellowship with believers at church, praying and studying God’s Word. Love God and serve Him! Please let us know if you invited Christ into your life. Pastor Harry would like to know right away so please email him so he can rejoice with you!
1 John 3:15 (The Message) “My purpose in writing is simply this: that you who believe in God's Son will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life, the reality and not the illusion. And how bold and free we then become in his presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he's listening.”
